Yahoo Dome, Japan’s first multi-purpose stadium with a retractable roof Yahoo Dome, Japan’s first retractable roof stadium, opened on April 2, 1993. Originally named “Fukuoka Dome,” it was renamed Yahoo Dome on February 2, 2005 due to naming rights. The dome was designed with the ancient Roman Coliseum motif allowing optimal viewing for spectators and state of the art athletic ground. With a retractable roof the dome is an ideal venue for sporting events and concerts in any weather condition. While home to the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks franchise baseball team it has 6,000 movable seats on both sides of the field which allow for a wide spectrum of sporting events to be held like American football games and super motor cross races.
